In Bradford on Avon we have blended meetings every Sunday. We used to have a fair number of Friends who took it in turn to be Zoom hosts, but we now don't bother with a host. Our virtual meeting room is always open, and there's no waiting room for it. Everyone gets muted by default when they join. Should we ever need a Zoom host, there are several Friends (including myself) who know the Zoom host key and can 'claim host' if the occasion calls for it (which it hasn't done so far).

We nowadays get, on a typical Sunday, about 25-30 Friends in person (plus several children) at the Meeting House and maybe a handful on Zoom. This often includes one or two Friends from neighbouring Bath Meeting where they don't have blended Meetings and hold their separate Zoom meetings only twice a month now.

We have a big (65-inch) wall-mounted screen and a decent camera/soundbar. We seem to be one of the few Meetings in the country who have not split over this issue and are happy to include those who can't come to the Meeting House. We don't do introductions, but instead give the opportunity to the Zoomers to socialise amongst themselves as soon as the Meeting House Friends go and fetch their coffees (i.e. the Meeting House leaves the Zoom room at this point).

Best wishes,

At New Barnet, we struggled to find people willing/able to handle the technology so we compromised by meeting in our own homes on Zoom one week and meeting in-person at the Meeting House on alternate weeks.  This seems to be working well.  Through the Zoom sessions we have increased our links with people in the wider Area Meeting and others, who have moved away from us, or are housebound, are now able to join us regularly again.  And perhaps the in-person meetings at the Meeting House are even more appreciated because they are not so frequent, so even more valued.

Subject: [wardenship] Enquiry regarding Meetings

Dear Wardens, Resident Friends and others overseeing Meeting Houses,
I have a quick question please.
At Watford Quaker Meeting House all our MfW on Sundays are Blended.
We have a large screen with roughly 30 - 50% of Members and Attenders =
joining on Zoom.
Since Covid this has always been the way.
As a Meeting we are very split, some dislike the screen in the hall and =
are seeking alternatives
and others see inclusivity as the future .

How are other Meeting Houses addressing the issue of Blended Meetings ?=20=

Just a few lines would be helpful. Watford Meeting have a full =
discussion on the 26th March.
I hope this is ok to ask this, I realise it is not about buildings and =
employment but as a Warden I feel I need some clearness.
In Friendship,
Jane Keay
Watford
