If you use Hallmaster, there is a newish service they are offering - remote door access facility integrated with the booking timetable. Not used or explored it so cant recommend but flagging up for Hallmaster customers. Might be worth a look. https://www.hallmaster.co.uk/allservices4u/ We use an electronic code door at Darlington which works pretty well though we get the odd wanderer when the building is in use & we are an unmanned building most of the time. The door has up to 5 different codes which can be reset - its a fairly simple system compared to electronic fob systems but all we can really cope with on minimal management (me!). It means most hirer group leaders have the same code but no alarming incidents to date. Its certainly a massive improvement from the old key door system! We do also have internal CCTV; rarely needed but has been useful for the odd incident. We have struggled with precneting access to the Meeting House by strangers, Given where we are in Bristol, between Salvation Army hostel and St Mungos and the city centre, we take this seriously. THere have beenseveral incidents.
We use in effect a single high security key, issued to users and also available in a coded lock box to gain entry for infrequent users. This is not ideal.
First thing we did was external CCTV. I dont know to what extent this is a deterrent.
We then ensured that no exterior doors can be simply pushed open when closed - a 'night 'latch' solved that problem on the inner of our two front doors.
We are considering an electronic fob system, one proprietary name is Paxton. Individually coded fobs, which can be 'turned off' . I would consider charging per fob - if lost, the hirer pays for a new re-coded fob.

In light of the recent thread about security etc, and another intruder here a week last Saturday, Lancaster Friends have decided its time to investigate a door entry security system. Has anyone had a new system installed recently and if so do you have any insights that would be helpful to us?
We are not staffed all the time we're open, which leaves users, staff, and the building vulnerable. We would like to have a system that allows the front door to be kept locked and hirers given codes that are individual to them, changeable, time sensitive, and the potential for staff and volunteers to have a 'dongle' allow easy access. Finances allowing, it would be even better if there were security cameras as part of the system, but not essential. I'm probably using all the wrong words as I'm 'running on empty' already this week, but hopefully you'll understand the gist.
Any thoughts, suggestions, or insights would be very much appreciated.
