Hi Esther, What an interesting question. I think your question comes in two parts, one is about weddings and the other is about nude events in a meeting house. The advice from BYM used to be that we should not hold any non-Quaker weddings in our meeting houses. It could create confusion as the venue can be confused with the letting and we could have people thinking they'd heard of a Quaker wedding once where no one was allowed to wear any clothes and have the idea going around that Quaker weddings are nude too. p.s. I used the word nude as opposed to naked as naked means wearing underwear in old language, so when Quakers such as Samuel Eagle/Eccles went 'naked as a sign' they weren't being quite a lewd as some might think. [image: image.png] I guess naturist events are OK as long as there is no offence taken by other meeting house users and that you have chairs that are easy to wipe down ;-) I hope some of this helps. Have any of you had any requests and or experience of hiring your Meeting House for a naturalist wedding or event?
If so, can you share any suggestions for any additional questions that might need to be raised prior to the hire that would be much appreciated.
Our enquiry is for a naturalist wedding in August, date TBC.
Kind regards,
