Re: Meeting House Matters - Tuesday, 21 May - 10.30am

Friends Please forgive that I am not sending just one or two photos. The Meeting House at Scarborough closes to all hirers in September, when I am also redundant, and is to be sold. At first I wondered if it was worth sending any photos at all in view of this but for those who've not visited, it might be an opportunity to see at least some of the outside of the building: Our signage, there are the words on the side of the building, a free standing sign, a notice board outside the entrance and the stone with the words from the previous Meeting House. These all face different directions /roads. We also have a 'Quaker Tapestry' panel of Scarborough carefully crafted in the same stitch and material as the Quaker Tapestry by a local group of skilled embroiderers who met here for 34 years til they have reluctantly moved to pastures new. The 'walled garden' is the best example of an open area which groups have used for outdoor meetings, lunches and picnics in the warmer months. This area is quite enclosed at each side by: the Meeting House, and the Meeting House entrance, a wall and the warden's bungalow. Scarborough Meeting has a large car park which is surrounded by grass, trees, fruit bushes, apple trees of various types, wild areas with wildlife habitats and places to sit on the grass but I've not sent photos of these.
