Door entry security systems

Dear Friends In light of the recent thread about security etc, and another intruder here a week last Saturday, Lancaster Friends have decided its time to investigate a door entry security system. Has anyone had a new system installed recently and if so do you have any insights that would be helpful to us? We are not staffed all the time we're open, which leaves users, staff, and the building vulnerable. We would like to have a system that allows the front door to be kept locked and hirers given codes that are individual to them, changeable, time sensitive, and the potential for staff and volunteers to have a 'dongle' allow easy access. Finances allowing, it would be even better if there were security cameras as part of the system, but not essential. I'm probably using all the wrong words as I'm 'running on empty' already this week, but hopefully you'll understand the gist. Any thoughts, suggestions, or insights would be very much appreciated. Hello Friends, Was asked if any meeting house is thinking of changing their signs for toilet facilities either in response to the ECHR guidelines or the recent statement on toilet facilities by Paul Parker at Yearly Meeting. The client who asked has a small building with two signposted bathrooms and one accessible, and has been planning a refurbishment for a couple of years. Re: toilet signage

In Bradford on Avon we got rid of separate 'gents' and 'ladies' toilet blocks back in 2002/03 when we had a big redevelopment, and replaced them with individual unisex toilet cubicles (3 standard, 1 accessible). Our main meeting room now stretches into the area that used to be the 'gents'. By the way, I find the phrase "self-contained, and therefore single-sex" in the linked document rather confusing. My first reaction was: shouldn't it therefore non-sex-specific? or unisex? or whatever you want to call it? Okay, after thinking it through a bit, I understand that what is meant is that if you use the self-contained cubicle for its intended purpose, it will never be used by people of more than one sex or gender at the same time - but I feel that it required a bit of twisting my brain to get there. Intruder policy

Hello all you lovely people, Do any of you have a policy on what to do if you get an unwanted intruder in the building? We have a very brief one but it pretty much amounts to hide and phone the cops. There are very few rooms within the building that anyone could lock themselves in. Also, with the best will in the world, without having someone in the foyer from 8am to 10pm daily checking who is coming in, it is impossible to prevent anyone from coming in who shouldn't be here. Any help is gratefully appreciated. Re: Intruder policy

Hello, Here in Oxford we have staff on duty 9am - 10pm Monday to Friday and when we have bookings at weekends. Evening and weekend shifts are covered by our much valued occasional staff. We have a number of 'uninvited' folk who come in and occasionally some who are difficult, aggressive or very demanding. A number have mental health issues. It can be really hard. We have a lone worker WhatsApp group which staff sign in and out of and which is monitored by managers. We have training sessions where we stress boundaries and why we have them (which some staff members struggle to reconcile with our open and welcoming vibe!) and in the evening ask staff to always lock the door once groups are in. We encourage staff to ring 999 if they feel uncomfortable with someone in the building. We are also putting out an appeal for members of the Meeting to be more present - drop in for tea, work in the building, meet up with friends and so on - to support staff who otherwise are working alone. Meeting House Matters - blended session on Thursday, 1 May
