Omnidirectional boundary microphone

Bit of a technical question: I'm in the process of assembling a loop amplifier system in our second largest room and am looking for a suitable OMNIDIRECTIONAL boundary microphone to site on a table in the middle of the room to pick up speech. The furthest point from the table would be around 8M and the lead from the mic to the amplifier needs to be 4M long. I'd be interested in other Meetings experience and feedback before spending money. Oh, and the budget is tight, so a readily available second hand unit would be preferable. -- Kind regards, Martin Lacey, Meeting House Manager Norwich Quaker Meeting House Upper Goat Lane, Norwich NR2 1EW t: 01603 624854 m:07857 167322 Weekdays 9 - 1 norwichquakers.org.uk <https://www.norwichquakers.org.uk/>

Dear Martin, At Brentford & Isleworth we needed a similar thing about a year ago - having done some research we settled on an Edis EC102, which has been working very well here. It's findable for between £35-£45, and while I'd imagine you'd probably need to buy a cable separately for that length, it has the option of a micro-USB or a 3.5mm jack connection so cables should be relatively cheap to buy, £5ish? It also has Bluetooth capacity, so a wireless connection is possible to use too if that's something The only hangup is that the advertised maximum range for the EC102 is 6m in any direction (assuming the Zoom sensitivity etc is set up well.) There is a newer model, the EC104, which I believe has a longer range and doesn't retail for much more. (https://www.edis-audio-visual.com/products/conference-systems/speaker-phones... has full data sheets etc for each one.) Those seemed to be the best options to us to fit our spec, which was similar than yours. Anything above (e.g. Shure or Audio Technica's equipment) either started reaching triple figures in price, or used an XLR cable which wouldn't have suited us. I hope there's something helpful there! Hi Martin When we had our hearing loop installed, they hung an omnidirectional microphone from the centre of our ceiling. I'm not sure whether this is the cheapest option but it seems to work well. Hallo, thanks for this information, we will investigate. In NE Thames we are trying to help people be heard in blended meetings in a modernist hexagonal room with floor to ceiling windows and a lot of hard surfaces. Also in the converted top floor of a former industrial building, when we take the laptop and screen there. We have been using an ex professional microphone that was gifted during the pandemic. I have heard that our friend in Northumbria recently improved the sound for their blended area meetings and would be interested to know what was purchased.
