In Bradford on Avon we got rid of separate 'gents' and 'ladies' toilet blocks back in 2002/03 when we had a big redevelopment, and replaced them with individual unisex toilet cubicles (3 standard, 1 accessible). Our main meeting room now stretches into the area that used to be the 'gents'. By the way, I find the phrase "self-contained, and therefore single-sex" in the linked document rather confusing. My first reaction was: shouldn't it therefore non-sex-specific? or unisex? or whatever you want to call it? Okay, after thinking it through a bit, I understand that what is meant is that if you use the self-contained cubicle for its intended purpose, it will never be used by people of more than one sex or gender at the same time - but I feel that it required a bit of twisting my brain to get there. And I have never heard any of our users make any complaint or comment about our toilet facilities (other than delight that they're always clean).

Was asked if any meeting house is thinking of changing their signs for toilet facilities either in response to the ECHR guidelines or the recent statement on toilet facilities by Paul Parker at Yearly Meeting.

The client who asked has a small building with two signposted bathrooms and one accessible, and has been planning a refurbishment for a couple of years.
